Tube Free

My dad just wanted me to let everyone know that after 25 days without food by mouth they removed the feeding tube today. He is on liquids for a few days, mush for a few days then solids. He said he first had coffee, then soup with a glass of milk. He also now has a device that he can hold to his neck to talk.

Is there a learning process for using the device or does he just talk as he normally would have.

Basically he has to form the words with his mouth and the vibrations are what you hear. It sounds pretty robotic and is quiet, but you get used to it. You still need to watch his mouth when he's talking, as it doesn't pick up all sounds he's trying to form, so you might miss some things. Ellie is pretty amazed by it!
