Happy 11th birthday Veronica! Its a big month for Branson birthdays.


Veronica shares her birthday with a couple of friends of Michael Jackson, namely Elizabeth Taylor and Lisa Marie Presley (his ex).


Because Lisa Marie and Veronica Marie were born on the same day, I thought I'd include a picture from one of Ver's recent trips to Graceland.

Just wanted to thank Mike and apparently Tony, the graphic designer, for work on the "Bill's Brigade" logo for our shirts, it looks great! The race packet suggests having a sign or banner to hold for your team photo, so I'm going to see if I can have something done up using the logo. Thanks again you guys, it looks awesome!!

Hey! It's time for a Branson get-together

It sounds like there will be a few additional Bransons (Sara, Eva, Pat, Nancy) around this weekend, so you're all invited to our house on Saturday (Feb 23), anytime after 3 PM. I'll provide essentials - plates, utensils, sandwich materials, snacks, and generic beverages. Please bring any additional beverages that you may like as well as an appetizer or dish to share.

If anyone wants to sled, there's plenty of snow - bring a sled along. Our next door neighbor's hill is safer than ours and available to use. Our hill is available to those with excellent health insurance. Please spread the word to those who don't check out the blog everyday. -Mary

I may be changing the menu to lasagne, salad, and bread. The menu will still include beer :)

Run/Walk Registration

Okay, I got my packet in the mail and it has a little more info on the run/walk. If you are joining the team and would like a t-shirt with our team name printed on it, you must register by Feb 28th. On the 29th they have a registratin drop-off, so if you didn't register online and need me to drop your paperwork off let me know. If you register online, and have joined our team, you should be good to go. As far as the shirts, they'll print something team-related on the back for us, with no set-up fee, as long as we have 10 or more people, which I think we already do. They then deliver the t-shirts to the captain, me, on April 7th. If you are out of town and won't be making it for the race, I'll send yours to you.

If you would like to collect donations offline, there is a form you can print from the website, or they sent me some fundraising forms. Let me know if you'd like me to send you one. Any funds raised need to be in prior to the event to count toward our team total.

They also take a team picture before the race. We can have this taken any time between 10:30 and 11:30 I believe. We can bring a banner that says our team name, if anyone has any connections. I know Frank has gotten some banners so maybe something saying "Bill's Brigade" with a Miller Lite theme, who knows.

Also, recruit as many people as you can to be part of this team!!! There is an awards ceremony after the event, at 1 p.m. Teams raising over $1000 will be recognized, and there are several other awards.

Finally, there are honor flags that can be purchased for $5 each. This amount goes toward our team goal. If you'd like to purchase one let me know. I have three forms here, and can always get more if need be.

Team Name

Okay, I set up the team online, so we are known as "Bill's Brigade". I have sent out emails to those of you who are in my address book, but if you haven't gotten one, you can go to www.cancer.org and click on participate in events. You'll have to enter a La Crosse area zip code, then click on "join a team". All you need to type in is Bill's Brigade, and you should be ready to register.

If you aren't able to walk, but want to make a donation you can do that too. Otherwise, you can set yourself up to collect donations online, or you can print out a pledge form to raise money for the cause. I set our team goal at $1,000, so lets see what we can do!!!!

If you have any team name ideas please let us know! If you go to the American Cancer Society website you can search events in this area and get a little more info. I'll get us registered once we have a name. Can we have suggestions in by the end of the week? I'm hoping Mike would be willing to set up a poll. Thanks again!!!
